Project Overview

The Nova Scotia Action Coalition for Community Well-Being (NSACCW) is seeking a media company to produce 5-10 high-quality social media reels. These reels will serve as powerful advocacy tools to promote alternative budget choices and foster public discourse around taxation, spending, and the future of Nova Scotia.

The Nova Scotia Alternative Budget (NSAB) is a collaborative initiative led by the Nova Scotia office of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA-NS). It aims to present a comprehensive alternative provincial budget that prioritizes social, economic, and climate justice. The NSACCW, dedicated to addressing poverty and inequality, brings its expertise and commitment to this partnership, amplifying the message of a just and sustainable future for all Nova Scotians.

This project will culminate in the release of the 2026-27 Alternative Budget on October 7, 2025, and the social media reels will play a critical role in engaging the public and advocating for change.


Project Goals

  1. Raise Awareness: Highlight the purpose and importance of the NSAB and NSACCW in shaping a just and sustainable future for Nova Scotia.

  2. Engage the Public: Use compelling storytelling to connect with diverse audiences and encourage participation in the alternative budget process.

  3. Advocate for Change: Showcase the potential of alternative budget choices to address critical issues such as housing, the environment, and social safety nets.


Scope of Work

The selected media company will be responsible for the following:

  1. Concept Development:

    • Collaborate with the NSAB Working Group and NSACCW to develop creative concepts for 5-10 social media reels.

    • Ensure alignment with the NSAB’s and NSACCW’s messaging and advocacy goals.

  2. Pre-Production:

    • Scriptwriting and storyboarding for each reel.

  3. Production:

    • Filming high-quality video content, ensuring professional-grade visuals and audio.

    • Incorporating diverse voices and perspectives to reflect the inclusivity of the NSAB and NSACCW.

  4. Post-Production:

    • Editing and adding graphics, captions, and animations to enhance engagement.

    • Ensuring all reels adhere to platform-specific requirements (e.g., Instagram, TikTok, Facebook).

  5. Delivery:

    • Provide final versions of all reels in formats optimized for social media platforms.

    • Deliver raw footage and project files for future use.

  • 5-10 social media reels (15-60 seconds each) tailored for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.

  • A cohesive visual and narrative style that aligns with the NSAB’s and NSACCW’s branding and advocacy goals.

  • A project timeline with key milestones, including concept approval, production, and delivery.


Proposal Requirements

Interested media companies should submit a proposal that includes:

  1. Company Overview: Brief introduction to your company, including relevant experience in advocacy campaigns and social media content creation.

  2. Portfolio: Examples of previous work, particularly social media reels or advocacy-related projects.

  3. Approach: Outline your creative process, including how you will collaborate with the NSAB Working Group and NSACCW.

  4. Timeline: Proposed schedule for completing the project, including key milestones.

  5. Budget: Detailed cost breakdown for the entire project, including pre-production, production, and post-production

  6. Team: List of team members who will work on the project, along with their roles and expertise.

Evaluation Criteria

Proposals will be evaluated based on the following:

  • Quality and relevance of previous work.

  • Demonstrated understanding of advocacy and social media engagement.
